CREATIVE DIRECTOR

As Co- Creative Director, Darren and collaborator Torya Beard worked with Idina to curate the desired feel of the show, the set list, and aesthetic components. They collaborated with the production designer to establish powerful and cohesive video and lighting components. The production toured 53 Cities throughout the US, Europe, Canada, & Japan.

American Repertory Theater

GALA ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Darren assistant directed the 2022 gala for the Tony-winning A.R.T. theater in Cambridge, MA. Alongside Director Torya Beard, he coached performers and speakers, and contributed to the creation of the evening’s Run of Show, visual components, and speech copy. He collaborated with institutional leadership, musicians and performers, stage management, and the artistic staff. The event’s performances were dynamic and polished, helping the theater raise a record-breaking $1.35M.

Caroline, or Change/Pace University

DIRECTOR

In the spring of 2017, along with tall poPpy, inc. co-founders Jeanine Tesori and Torya Beard, Darren directed a workshop production of Caroline, Or Change with Pace Musical Theatre students. Working with the show’s original creators, the students delved into the text to deeply investigate the central questions of the piece, resulting in an impactful experience for the actors and audience alike.

Plymouth state university

CHOREOGRAPHER

For 7 years, Darren has worked with the Educational Theatre Collaborative and the Emmy-winning TIGER program, choreographing a total of 10 shows at Plymouth State University. Main stage musicals include Shrek, The Little Mermaid, and Annie. Additionally, he has choreographed several educational shows for young audiences, which tour hundreds of elementary, middle, and high schools throughout New England.
